something in the mail!

Just received something in the mail - no, it's not very exciting, it's just a gift offer from David Jones - but on the front there is a model wearing Estee Lauder make-up, and a very cool cuff. Does anyone know whether this cuff is anything special? Or does it just look nice?

cheers!

clever mr. louboutin.

I love how Christian Louboutin designs his clutches with little pump-shaped clasps. It gives the edgiest fashion quite an endearing quality (Yeah, I know. Just a bit stuffy sounding?).

have fun!!

seedbeads are...annoying

Hello! Having a great time lazing round the house on holidays; I get to do one of my favourite things, which is making jewellery and other little crafty bits. At the moment I'm loving this great craft set called Bead Loom Bracelets by Ann Akers Johnson for Klutz. It's great for making birthday prezzies and 'cause it uses seedbeads, I can create really intricate designs. Only problem is, the needle is about as thin as a hair and I keep pricking myself!
The first bracelet I made! Yeah, it's a little tattered.

Close-up shot: FAIL. But you can kinda see the individual seedbeads (?).

This is a current work-in-progress :D

So that's probably why I haven't been posting more, but now you know what I'm up to. Also, I've been planning a DIY of these Alexander McQueen flats (top) :P They look fun!

lily donaldson

I have spent many a technology lesson googling lily (in a non-stalkerish manner!). One of my favourite models. I really love the white dress in the last photo.
source: mostly tfs, the rest I have forgotten

commedegarcons skirt.

"...I didn't have a chance to go shopping, so I asked my assistant to go out and get me a funny pair of pants because I was in a bad mood and I thought it would cheer me up. He came back with a skirt from Comme de Garcons from Barneys and I loved it so much. So then I got in touch with the people at CDG and I ordered 12 of them in different fabrics and colours and ever since then I haven't stopped wearing them." - Marc Jacobs interview for Russh

The current issue of Russh is very cool. I highly recommend it.

Farewell?

The fashion world is mourning the loss of Christian Lacroix, who on Tuesday gave what was probably his last haute couture show. He has had to close the doors on his label due to financial troubles, but we won't forget his great artistry.

Lacroix's last show was dominated by solemn blacks and blues, giving the show a sombre air, with the same innovation and intricacy he is known for.

Inspired - and inspiring - designs from a fashion great. A banner was unfurled by his supporters sporting the words 'Christian Lacroix Forever'. There were tears as Lacroix exited the show; he will be missed in the industry.

I am convinced I need a blue shirt. Does anyone know where I can get one without hunting through op-shops? x

Love it or Leave it?

New monthly segment time! :D I thought it would be interesting if we did a 'love it or leave it?' post on the first Tuesday of each month. So here goes!

Today's 'love it or leave it': Genie Pants (otherwise known as harem pants)!

(pics from sevennewyork.com and sheknows.com respectively)

I personally am not a fan - but you know the drill: Love it or Leave it? Post your thoughts in the comments.

Eye-opening

News! While preparing for a dance performance, I was putting on eyeliner and found out this great way to make your eyes look bigger. What's that? You want to hear about it? Well, okay.

Apply a light to medium coloured eyeshadow - not dark because this shrinks your eyes. Then, apply a line of eyeliner (use a softer shade) from the inside corner of your eye; extend this a little beyond your eye's outer corner to make it seem more elongated Then here's the trick - from the outer corner of your eye, apply a very short line of eyeliner. Don't let it get longer than a third of the way across. Blend the eyeliner on your lid and voila!

Hope this works for you - it did for me :D

have fun!
